Reed Bunting and Marsh Tit back from their absence during the breeding season. No idea where the tits nest - somewhere down in Clydach Gorge perhaps - only ever see one.

Went down to the mumbles Swansea,parked the car, got the picnic out,then the gulls came.At first all I could see was black-headed,then I noticed three gulls with really black heads and white around the eyes.Took some lovely photo,so.

Goldcliff Lagoons

Main Sighting: Avocet
56 species seen on an afternoon visit today with highlights including 2 buzzards, skylark, 2 redstarts (ad fem and juv fem), pair of kestrels hunting, 1 stock dove, 21 lapwing, 8 lt ringed plovers of which 4 were juveniles, 261 black headed gulls (Med gull seen from hide 3 with a smaller group of black headed gulls), 2 chiffchaffs (contact calls), 4 ravens. New platform - 20 turnstone, 1 knot, 5 lt egrets, 61 black tailed godwits, 408 dunlin (some juvs), 9 ringed plovers, 5 common snipe, 3 cracking male yellow wagtails, 2 fly over gt black-backed gulls, 1 common sandpiper, 104 common redshanks. Sea wall - 4 more yellow wagtails, 1 whimbrel with a lovely head pattern, raft of 79 shelduck on the sea, numerous swallows and house martins over the sea aerial feeding. Hide 3 - 6 avocet one with colour rings (yellow ring and yellow leg flag marked AC), 4 teal, 1 heron, fem ruff, 3 shoveler and a cettis calling. 500+ sand martins gathering again on the dry mud opposite hide 1. Migrant hawker, emperor and common darter dragonflies seen and lepidoptera included small and large whites, gatekeepers, meadow browns, fresh small tortoiseshells, 1 painted lady, small copper and small blue.

Llandegfedd

Main Sighting: Oystercatcher
4 Oystercatchers, 3 of which were flying throughout the day making lots of noise. 2 Redshank (1 Juvi), 8 Common Sand, 4 LRP, 4 Little Egret, 7 Mandarin. No sign of Osprey or Cattle Egret today. (Osprey last seen yesterday @ 8:30pm)

1 Cattle Egret Kate evening.Found on far bank opposite Cafe then on fishnets. In smart breeding plumage! First Llandegfedd record I believe.
