Mynydd Llangattock

Main Sighting: Red Grouse
Several grouse droppings found, sparrowhawk egg shell found, peregrine calling, buzzards, chiffchaff movements and a goldcrest. Lovely show of sundews, butterworts, lousewort and cross-leaved heath.

Pair of hobby looking for sand martins, peregrine, red kite, buzzard, wheatear, pair of swan with 3 3/4 size signets, 60 canada geese, 3 heron, little egret, 9 mallard group, grey wagtail.

Newport Wetlands Goldcliff

Main Sighting: Garden Warbler
Garden Warbler 1 Whitethroat 1 Reed Warbler 1 Sedge Warbler 1 Cetti's Warbler 1 Yellow Wagtail. Waders included Common Sandpiper 2 Turnstone 1 Spotted Redshank 1 Greenshank 7. Also; several Migrant Hawkers and Common Darters and three Holly Blues on the seawall were a nice surprise.

Golfcliff Lagoons

Main Sighting: Migrants
161 Canada geese with 1 Egyptian goose mixed in , 3 buzzards, kingfisher by bridge, 2 herons, 48 lapwing, 4 curlew (48 more on mudflats), 44 teal, 7 greenshank, 2 snipe, 5 ravens, 10 chiffchaff in hedgerow, 100 redshank, sand Martin passage (groups of 53,33,11 and 21), 4 yellow wagtail, 1 spotted redshank lost after fem peregrine flew through, 460 dunlin, 78 ringed plover, 1 cettis, 1 reed warbler, 2 white wagtails, tree pipit over and calling, 9 black tailed godwits, 5 egrets, male peregrine on mudflats having a go at the dunlin, ad fem marsh harrier (0740), male wheatear on sea wall, female whinchat, swallows, 2 knot, 1 turnstone, 1 common sandpiper and sighting of 55 shoveler which took off as a group and headed straight out to sea towards Flat Holm

A few to add to Nev's earlier sightings, 1 juv wood sand, 2 juv ruff, 1 green sand, 2 wheatear, c500 swallows, 150 plus house martins, 150 plus sand martins, 4 lesser whitethroat, 3 whitethroat and 4 willow warblers.

Peterstone Gout

Main Sighting: Spotted Flycatcher
On the morning tide: c.150 Redshank,29 Lapwing,38 Mallard,152 Shelduck,c.75 Canada Geese,3 Heron,7 Lgrt,2 Cormorant, Peregrine and Sparrow Hawk inland,c.40 Goldfinches,continuous trickle of swallows NE, with 70 + feeding over the saltmarsh til 10am. Probably 300+ over 3 hours.A Spotted Flycatcher,Redstart,Whitethroat and Wheatear all close to the vis mig point as usual.
