Blorenge

Main Sighting: Red Grouse
Did a count this morning with the dogs and lifted 18 Red Grouse along with 2 Common Snipe. Highlights though was a brief view of a male Hen Harrier and a Short Eared Owl being blown around as I left the car at dawn.

Raptors thermal above Croesyceiliog this afternoon with 4 Common Buzzard at the bottom Kestrel Above that and female Sparrowhawk above that and to one side at a very high altitude a Red Kite ..

Goldcliff Lagoons

Main Sighting: Peregrine
15.20 - 17.40 - Kingfisher [2] briefly fighting in the reen near the car park, before dashing into cover. Robin, Blue Tit, Wren, Song Thrush, Blackbird, Woodpigeon, several Stonechat, Long-tailed Tit, Reed Bunting [2], Starling, Carrion Crow, Magpie, Raven. Large numbers of Teal, Shoveler, Lapwing, Redshank. Also, Greenshank [2], Curlew [15], Wigeon, Common Sandpiper, Snipe [12] all feeding in the open area opposite the new platform, Little Egret, Grey Heron, Canada Goose, Mute Swan, Shelduck, Moorhen, Mallard, Great Black Backed Gull, Kestrel [2]. As the light was fading, Peregrine [Adult] preening on the island in front of the 1st hide.

Red Barn Hide

Main Sighting: Marsh Harrier
14.30 - 15.15 - Pied Wagtail [2], Blue Tit, Robin, Goldfinch, Stonechat [F], Wren, Woodpigeon, Magpie, Carrion Crow, Jay [2]. On the lagoons - Canada Goose, Mute Swan [4], Coot, Wigeon, Mallard, Little Egret [3], Grey Heron [2], Kestrel, Marsh Harrier [M] quartering the reed beds. Large flocks of Starling in the trees to the left of the lagoons.
