Wentwood

Main Sighting: Nightjar
Great,close up views of a male Nightjar flying around in circles in front of me,before another appeared and they flew off together and not seen again.2nd bird was a female.All this took place well before dusk along the path to the left near car park where new trees were planted a few years ago.

Golfcliff Lagoons

Main Sighting: Plovers
5am to 7am. Highlights family group of chiffchaffs 71 common redshanks 14 avocet 13 ringed plovers 5 pairs of little ringed plovers which was good to see 6 oystercatchers 5 shoveler 3 cormorants 4 pairs tufted ducks 4 lt egrets 54 lapwing 10 black tailed godwits sedge warbler singing juv male peregrine trying to hunt over 1st lagoon 9 very smart dunlin 111 shelduck on mudflats 1 gt b b gull and a cettis calling.

Adjacent to A449 south of Raglan

Main Sighting: Red Kite
Approximately 17.30 on Sunday while driving from Monmouth to Newport viewed a Red Kite soaring low (40ft?) just off the north bound carriageway. I had a very good view so no doubt it was a Kite.

Peterstone Gout

Main Sighting: Manx Shearwaters
7.45 to 10am sea watch. 475 Manx Shearwaters down channel. 1 immature Gannet up, then down. The brood of 10 juv. Shelduck has reduced to 7, plus an older brood of 3 juvs.
