GLWR Uskmouth

Main Sighting:
Visited Uskmouth lagoons this afternoon (23.4.03) which was particularly good for warblers, netting 8 types. These included 8 Cetti'ss Warblers, 5 Reed Warblers, 7 Sedge Warblers, 4 Chiffchaff, 2 Willow Warblers, singles of Common Whitethroat, Garden Warbler, and Blackcap. The latter birds were in song together in the same bush area, making good comparison. Also 5 Little Grebe, 2 Cormorant, 2 Grey Heron, 7 Little Egret, the Whooper Swan, 8 Mute Swan, with 2 on the nest, 36 Tufted Duck, 4 Pochard, 13 Mallard, 2 Shelduck, 2 Raven, 3 Pheasant, and 2 Cuckoos. Also heard Whimbrel, but no trace by the time I reached the shore.

GLWR Goldcliff

Main Sighting:
GOLDCLIFF LAGOONS 22Apr.First Lapwing chicks of year!2 Avocets still present,14 Blackwits,10+ Whimbrel,Greenshank,Ruff,c50 sp Dunlin,Grey Plover,8 LRP,a superb sp Black Tern,Yellow and White Wags,and a Merlin.

Langstone

At 15:20 a single Whitethroat was singing it'ss head off beside the Langstone Hilton car park. Also numerous Chiffies heard.

GLWR Uskmouth

Main Sighting:
At uskmouth today were 11 little egrets, the whooper swan,and 3 cuckoos were seen together. Earlier at Y.R a whinchat was only the second record for me here in 13 years.

GLWR Goldcliff

Main Sighting:
19/4 0945-1115. Goldcliff 4 Whimbrel, 20+ Dunlin, 1 Greenshank, 1 Curlew Sandpiper, 2 Avocets, 8 Black Tailed Godwits, 2+ White Wagtails. 1130-1230. Salthouse Lane. 1 Cuckoo, several Blackcaps, Whitethroats. Reed, Cetti'ss and Sedge Warblers heard.
