Main Sighting: |
Visited Ynys y Fro Reservoir today for 15 minutes. Generally quite, although movements of about 24 Swallow, and about 18 House Martins. Also noticed on the north reservoir a single female Mallard, with just one chick, which may suggest a heavy toll of her brood. |

Main Sighting: |
Visited Uskmouth lagoons this afternoon (23.4.03) which was particularly good for warblers, netting 8 types. These included 8 Cetti'ss Warblers, 5 Reed Warblers, 7 Sedge Warblers, 4 Chiffchaff, 2 Willow Warblers, singles of Common Whitethroat, Garden Warbler, and Blackcap. The latter birds were in song together in the same bush area, making good comparison. Also 5 Little Grebe, 2 Cormorant, 2 Grey Heron, 7 Little Egret, the Whooper Swan, 8 Mute Swan, with 2 on the nest, 36 Tufted Duck, 4 Pochard, 13 Mallard, 2 Shelduck, 2 Raven, 3 Pheasant, and 2 Cuckoos. Also heard Whimbrel, but no trace by the time I reached the shore. |

At 15:20 a single Whitethroat was singing it'ss head off beside the Langstone Hilton car park. Also numerous Chiffies heard. |
