Main Sighting:
At 1500 today. Almost pure white Common Buzzard circling low over Ponytpool town centre. Only mark on an otherwise all white bird was a single black inner primary on one wing!

Main Sighting:
Goldcliff Lagoons.29th July.Relatively quiet compared to recent weeks.Highlight was a BLACK TERN flying upchannel offshore. Waderwise on the Lagoons noted 1 WHIMBREL,2 LRP,3 TURNSTONE,32 BLACKWITS,4 DUNLIN,40 LAPWING,9 OYSTERCATCHERS and a GREENSHANK.

Main Sighting:
18th July.Productive morning visit.The ADULT SPOONBILL still present.Also of note 3 eclipse GARGANEY and a good variety of waders inc 5 LRP,1 ad+4 young AVOCETS,2 SNIPE,2 TURNSTONE,2 WHIMBREL,a smart REEVE,c150 DUNLIN,4/5 COMMON SAND,and 32 BLACKWITS etc.Two YELLOW WAGS and a WHINCHAT added to the migratory feel.Also pleased to see 2 broods of 6&7 very young TUFTED DUCK.(At least I think they were different broods!)

Llandegfedd Reservoir

Main Sighting:
LR, Tuesday 15th PM. 1 adult Yellow Legged Gull amongst LBB Gulls and Black Heads on spit in front of Glascoed (Fisherman'ss) car park. Any gull afficianados care to confirm? Apologies for late posting - tried on Tuesday without success.

Following the strong winds overnight, at least a couple of dozen Manx Shearwaters offshore at Goldcliff this AM. Adult Spoonbill still present on lagoons.

GLWR Goldcliff

Main Sighting:
Whoops! This is the message that should have preceded the last one. Tue. 15/7 Goldcliff lagoons 6.30-7.45 p.m. One adult Spoonbill (orange-ringed on both legs) seen in flight and later resting on second lagoon, crest clearly visible. Definitely not one of the three birds seen a few weeks ago. Also present were 2 Greenshank, 2 Dunlin, 3 Turnstone, 3 Common Sandpiper, 4 juvenile Avocet, plus numerous Black-tailed Godwits, Redshanks, Sand Martins etc. (and of course those Little Egrets!)

GLWR Goldcliff

Main Sighting:
Goldcliff Tue. eve. - forgot to say there were also fourteen Little Egrets. At one point, twelve of these were busily preening right next to the sleeping Spoonbill.
