Avian Influenza – advice from the BTO

Avian Influenza – advice from the BTO

Very sadly, we are receiving reports of increases in High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (bird flu), including a worrying outbreak in Whooper Swans in the Fens. Other waterbirds are also being affected. Therefore, we ask that you remind people what to do if they come across sick or dead birds:

  • Do not touch/move any sick or dead birds.
  • Please report sightings of dead birds for possible testing via the form below:
  • If you are a counter for the BTO WeBs survey, please also report any dead or sick waterbirds seen through the WeBS Core Count form on the BTO website.
