A weekend trip to Portland Bird Observatory for potential Spring migration. We stay in the observatory in multi-occupation rooms. Take sleeping bags and food. We usually dine at a local pub in the evening. The observatory charges £17 per person per night for the accommodation. Payable at the observatory.

Possibility of Cuckoo and Goshawk as well as a variety of woodland and open moorland birds.
The walk can be wet in places so please wear appropriate footwear.
Meet John Coleman at 8:30 am on the road outside Osbaston School (SO507137, NP25 3PU) for an easy walk along farm tracks and road.
Will we see Yellowhammer this year, once common they have been missing for a couple of years?

This is a woodland walk through GWT Strawberry Cottage Wood Reserve where we would hope to see Redstart and Flycatchers amongst the woodland species. The walk has some steep and potentially wet areas. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
An easy walk through Wentwood Forest to look for Nightjar. Meet Gavin Vella at Cadira Beeches car park (ST422948, nearest post code: NP15 1NA) at 8:00 pm. Return will be during darkness, please bring a torch and wear suitable clothing.
Meet Steph Tyler at 8:30 am at the Beacon View car park for a 3 hour moderate walk to view a variety of species. Certain parts could be wet, please wear appropriate footwear and clothing.
Meet Dave Brassey at the RSPB Ham Wall car park at 9:00 am for an all day visit. Bring a packed lunch / refreshments. Light refreshments are available at the car park RSPB cabin.
There is no formal procedure for the day, you can stay for as long as you wish.
If there is a need, car sharing may be possible to reduce our carbon footprint.

Meet at the observatory any time after 12:00 mid-day. Bring sleeping bag and food for the week-end. We usually eat out in the evenings at a local pub. (optional)
Meet Blair Jones at WWT Steart Marshes car park (ST25208 44210) at 9:00 am for a 3 – 4 hour moderate walk around this relatively new reserve.
Meet Ian Walker at 8:00 am at Fourteen Locks car park (£1.00 charge) for a 2-3 hour walk around this local nature reserve. The walk can be wet in places, wear suitable footwear.
Meet Dave Brassey at the car park at WWT Slimbridge at 9:15 am for a full day at this exceptional reserve.
An entry fee is payable for Non-WWT members. Winter visitors including Bewick and Whooper Swans. Wear suitable clothing as reserve is very open.
You may wish to bring a packed lunch and refreshments although there are restaurants and refreshment locations around the reserve.
It is hoped that the current booking restrictions will have been lifted by November 2021.
