The most northwesterly part of the UK mainland is a wilderness of peat bog, towering sea cliffs and home to huge numbers of seabirds. It is also the largest bombardment range in NW Europe. The talk explores the juxtaposition of wildlife conservation while meeting the demands of Defence.

The Eurasian curlew is an iconic bird of both farmland and moorland. Over the last two decades its numbers have plummeted, so in 2016, Mary Colwell walked 500 miles across Ireland and the UK to find out why. It set in train a nation-wide movement to save this beautiful wader.
