Golfcliff Lagoons

Main Sighting: Green Sandpiper
1 green sandpiper calling overhead 2 ringed plovers 1 tufted 3 avocet 25 black tailed godwits 1 common sandpiper 1 snipe 104 dunlin 6 egrets 9 teal 5 turnstone 1 ruff 1 curlew sandpiper 1 whimbrel 1 shoveler 1 curlew 166 b h gulls and 1 common gull mixed in 72 redshank 18 lapwing 4 greenshanks. Also 4 swift 60 sand Martin 25 house Martin 2 cettis 2 whinchat with 2 stonechat and 1 zedge warbler on the fence 3 whitethroats 5 skylark 8 yellow wagtail kestrel reed warbler and 2 stock doves amongst others.

4 Common Scoter (inc 3 females) off West Pill, also in area-5 Common Sandpipers,5 Whimbrel,4 Yellow Wagtails, prob juv White Wagtail,1 Willow Warbler,451 Curlew,907 Black-headed Gulls,113 Shelduck,6 Little Egrets,25 Dunlin,3 Oystercatchers,9 Lapwing,1 Redshank,also 2 Marbled White Butterflies, being main sightings.

Goldcliff Lagoons

Main Sighting: Little Stint
Interesting afternoon. 7 whimbrel flew across the lagoons later seen out on the mudflats, swallow 35, curlew 1, lapwing 31, black headed gulls 16, pied wagtails 15, white wagtail 7, yellow wagtail 4 plus a juvenile, greenshank 1, shelduck 1, house martins 15, sand martin 3, egret 2, heron 2 (one battling with an eel for about four minutes), little ringed plovers 13, teal 11, wigeon 1, avocet 16 (1 with faded orange leg flag recently confirmed by wader group as being ringed in France). Out on the rocks by the sea wall was 6 common sandpipers feeding together which was nice to see and 87 herring gulls with 4 gt black-backed gulls mixed in and 4 oystercatchers. From new viewing platform - 2 curlew sandpipers, 25 black tailed godwits, 1 little stint in immaculate plumage, 144 dunlin (1 juv only), increase of common redshanks now at 94. Distant marsh harrier was possibly a juv? 2 buzzards present 1 very light bird hunting over the lagoons.
