Peterstone Gout

Main Sighting: Mediterranean Gull
1630-1730: high tide (though lots of mud still visible). Amongst the 400 or so Black-headed Gulls, a 1st summer Med Gull. Also 4 1st summer Common Gulls. Only 3 juv Black-headed Gulls, 2 Herring Gulls (1 adult, 1 1st summer). You can tell there wasn't much else around as I spent most of the time sorting through and ageing the gull flock!

Peterstone Gout

Main Sighting: Siskin
30 siskin heading SW this morning, presumably part of the influx of continental birds that has been arriving in the east over the last couple of days, an unusually high count for time of year. Also 92 swifts (mostly ->NE) and a little ringed plover dropped in on the pool.

Peterstone sluice farm

Main Sighting: Reed Warblers
Fairly quiet today (apart from a guy with binoculars and a constant barking dog) who hasn't quite grasped the concept of quietness when birding. Birds of note included kingfisher by the first sluice gate, pair of reed warblers (male with grubs), family groups of linnets, cettis warbler calling, chiffchaff and several whitethroats. Not much on the mudflats apart from 6 oystercatchers, 9 curlew, 6 shelduck, 4 little egrets, 76 lapwing, 34 common redshanks and 48 black headed gulls.
