Main Sighting: Pied Flycatcher
Two male pied flycatchers , 3 male redstarts , 3 wood warblers , several whinchats , a couple of skylarks and lots of meadow pipits this afternoon from st marys vale to the base of the sugar loaf

Goldcliff lagoons

Main Sighting: egyptian goose
The curlew sandpiper moved on early unfortunately. Also of note 3 little ringed plovers whitethroat 2 cettis 2 lesser whitethroat house martins heron which caught a coot chick and later a gosling 12 swifts 350 dunlin 2 knot 20 ringed plovers lapwing with single chick 1 greenshank 14 black tailed godwits fem peregrine with a full crop grasshopper warbler reeling behind hide two 16 gadwall 23 tufteds 4 whimbrel 4 pochards marsh harrier and Egyptian goose camw in for 8 minutes at 15.50.

No Ibis seen from 16.00 to 17.00. Marsh Harrier hunted on the way through. 2 House Martins amongst the Swallows.

Main Sighting: House martin
Small groups of martins flying over the River Rhymney towards the Caerphilly direction also 1 swift (4 swifts also over here three days ago). Male peregrine flying high, pair of sparrowhawks circling, male being harassed by 2 of the house martins and a long tailed tit with the bottom of its tail curled up from sitting on eggs in the nest.

Red Barm Hide Goldcliff

Main Sighting: Glossy Ibis
The Ibis didn't show for nearly an hour but eventually flew up and circled quite high before dropping back down to feed over to the left. Also of note 2 lesser whitethroats, chiffchaff, willow warbler, cettis warbler, blackcap, female kestrel hovering, buzzard, 2 gadwall, 5 egrets, 3 herons, 11 house martins aerial feeding, 2 stock doves and cuckoo calling.
