Main sighting: Ruff and Knots

Early visit at low tide. The usual flock of Black Tailed Godwits on Priors. Mixed in with them was a Ruff , Knot and Dunlin.Out on the mud today as the tide went out lots of Black Headed Gulls and Curlews. Black Swan remains hanging about with the Mute Swans.

Despite the wind and rain a SEO, a very early bird, was hunting near Bec’s chased at one stage by Swallows. Also Sparrowhawk 1 Kestrel 1 and the usual selection of waders including Ruff and Snipe. Southern Hawker male posed for a photograph.

Early afternoon 2 adult gannet over estuary at sudbrook, heading west.

Just confirming that our ‘resident’ Glossy Ibis here at 12:30, Thursday, tucked in against the reeds on Prior’s viewable from the Marsh platform.

Main sighting: Yellow Wagtails

Evening visit – Peregrine with kill on Monks, Kestrel, 300+ Black Tailed Godwits, Pied Wagtails x4 , Yellow Wagtails x 2. Black Swan on Priors Various usual. 100+ Black Headed Gulls roosting on Monks at dusk. 80+ Dunlins on the mud.

On the morning windy tide: 1 male Bar Tailed Godwit in full summer plumage, 8 Curlew, 1 Whimbrel, 35 Oystercatcher, 120 Redshank, 1 Greenshank, 3 Common Sandpipers, 8 Dunlin, 207 Mallard, 2 Heron, 1 Cormorant.

Wood Sandpiper On Monk’s Lagoon @16:05, Ruff, Spoonbill,Little Egret, Raven.

Single green sand over 1st hide also 3 kestrel ( male Fem and juv) female sprawk .quiet due to dredging and hide works but otherwise the usual

The annual maintenance work for the lagoons will begin on Monday with the bulk of the work completed in the first week. We will try to keep disturbance to a minimum
