Main sighting: Whinchat

Cuckoo called twice this morning but didn’t stay. A corking male Whinchat near the old reservoir, a few Swallows and my first House Martin over, Redstart singing.

A couple of Garden Warblers below castle plus several Blackcaps

Main sighting: Peregrine

Excellent walk at Peterstone sea wall; 39 species total; peregrine seen sitting in salt marshes for several minutes, then with oystercatcher kill; mixed flock of 18 dunlin (breeding plumage) and 7 ringed plover moving around together; pochard, teal, wigeon, tufted, shelduck, pintail, mallard; canada and greylag geese; 3 little egrets; pair of grey heron; pair mistle thrush; LBBB, herring gull; etc

Main sighting: Swift

One sole Swift amongst a large mixed flock of approximately 100 Swallows and House Martins, high above the Nedern Brook (1600hrs) not far from the A48 flyover. Little Egrets; Tufted Ducks; Lapwing; Teal; Canada Geese; 12 Mallard ducklings; Shelducks, etc. Great Spotted Woodpecker ‘drumming’; Blackcap and Chiffchaffs singing.

Curlew, Mandarin, Goosander and 5 Fieldfare on my morning walk today.

2 Curlews calling and flying around in the vicinity of the church . Along the river a Kingfisher , a Dipper , a Treecreeper and several Goosanders & Sandpipers .

First Wood Warbler seen and heard singing. Also Cuckoo heard.

A walk along the river produced several Willow warblers , 30+ Sand martins and 9 mallard Ducklings

Main sighting: Sand Martin

Mallard with ducklings, singing Greenfinch and 2 pairs of Bullfinch, several Sand Martins, Kingfisher, but no Common Sands heard or seen. An area towards the Silver Bridge full of Blackcaps, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler heard, and Green Woodpecker.

Main sighting: Pied Flycatcher

Male Pied Flycatcher this afternoon along with several Willow Warblers , Nuthatches , Treecreepers and Greater Spotted Woodpeckers . Also seen 2 Swallows and 3 Linnets
