Main sighting: Spotted Flycatcher

My first Spotted Flycatcher of the year. Plus the usual warblers.

Main sighting: Kingfisher

On River Monnow, also female Mandarin Duck and pair of Goosander flying over low, Grey Wagtail possibly breeding by Llangua Bridge.

Main sighting: Cuckoo

Male Cuckoo calling 6am and two ravens

Main sighting: Spotted Flycatcher

A pair of Spotted Flycatchers, about 10 or more swallows and same house martins. Nesting pairs of Blackcap and Common Whitethroat. Willow Warbler.

Main sighting: Crossbill

Flock of 14 common crossbills flying across from the forestry and heading towards the Llanishen ridge. Also seen a pair of swifts.

Forget to put 3 Cuckoos heard with one showing good views in flight

Main sighting: Nightjar

Nightjar churring 21:30 loud and clear there may have been two birds. Also Tawny calling.

Main sighting: Redstart

Male & female Redstart this morning in the woods plus several Wood Warblers , a male Pied Flycatcher , 3-4 Treecreepers and a couple of Garden & Willow Warblers . On top of the Rholben 2 Yellowhammers , a pair of Ravens ,many Skylarks & Meadow Pipits , a couple of Tree Pipits , a few pairs of Stone hats and 4 Whinchats

Male in song, I suspect that they breed somewhere around the village. Also juvenile Starlings on bird table and Goldcrest in song audible from house.

2 birds approx. 7.30am high in the sky n/e then s/w

Main sighting: Nightjar

A Nightjar heard briefly at 11:30 am was a major surprise. Red Kite 2 Tree pipit 1 House Martins and Swallow gathering mud, Robin pair with three young.
