Main sighting: Mystery bird

Last night I found myself awake at 3.am so decided to see if I could see any of the promised shooting stars shortly after I heard a bird calling I thought might be a wader suddenly a bird appeared from behind me over the house and flew towards the Severn away from me losing height. It appeared to have flat rounded wings and to be the size of a e.q. short eared owl or small heron I never managed to get my bins on it and it was gone will keep an eye out for what ever it was I never seen or heard it again in the next 30 mins

Red kite quartering fields around the garden centre, then flew off towards Mynydd Maen.
Unable to determine sex.

Main sighting: Hen Harrier

Ringtail Hen Harrier hunting near the old Brynmawr reservoir, disappeared across county boundary to the north. Flock of forty Goldfinches feeding on rush seeds. Male Sparrowhawk perched by Hafod Road. Also Buzzard and Kestrel.

12 Redwing, 6 Song , 3 Mistle Thrush, 18 Blackbirds and 1 Male ring Ouzel feeding at the end of ‘Cock Street’ Redwick yesterday morning. Ring Ouzel was being chased off by Mistles but there were plenty of berries.

Red Kite circling low over house with two local buzzards .Also afon llwydd between llanyrafon and Croesyceiliog Quiet on Dog walking Day but still Kingfisher and dippers and usual grey Wagtails.

More comprehensive list from earlier this morning 09-00 to 12.30 Merlin eventually moved on by Kestrel Fem Kestrel , Peregrine Tiercel 2 Buzzard ( standard morph) . Short Eared Owl being mobbed by crows at low level towards Red house. Glossy Ibis flew in for a brief visit in front of First Hide . also Linnet 18 Grey Heron 3 , Little Egret 6 , Goldfinch 27 , Meadow pipit 30 plus , WHITETHROAT ( late ) but in bushes before first platform , Whinchat 1, Stonechat 6, and Wheatear (two in front of Seawall hide ) also starling carrion Crow Magpie Jackdaw Raven Canada Geese Mute Swan Black swan single Greylag Shelduck Wigeon 2, Scaup 1, ( in small ponds by seawall ) YELLOW WAGTAIL ( another late one ) Pied Wagtail Willow Warbler Chaffinch Moorhen and on foreshore Oystercatcher 14 , lapwing 25, Curlew 6 Redshank 14

Merlin sat on fence in front of hide 2 now 11.32 ..Also flossy flew in on middle lagoon whilst talking to Mr Thomas ..Peregrine tiercel on island fem kestrel 2 buzzard Stonechat mippits greylag Canada linnet swallow oystercatcher curlew lapeing redshank (foreshore )

Main sighting: Linnet

>100 Linnet, then scared off by sparrow hawk. Also 3 Wheatears, 4 meadow pipit, 300 goldfinch, 1 curlew, redshank, black tailed godwits, teal, shoveler, shel duck, mallards, lesser BBG, grey heron, little egret, willow warbler and late swallows. Very good morning – 34 species in all.,
