Main sighting: Greenfinches

I see that the BTO have put greenfinches on the red list.Going back a while there was the disease problem and numbers dropped,but recently numbers have increased form 5 to 20 birds around the feeders at any one time.

1 Common Sandpiper, 11 Little Egrets, 6 Grey Herons, 1 male and 6 female Goosanders, Red Kite, 25 Mute Swans, 2 Teal, plus Buzzards, flocks of Goldfinches and Chaffinches, Grey Wagtails, 50+ Mallard, Herring and Lesser Black-backed Gulls, Canada Geese etc.

Kingfisher just below the gout at high tide; also green woodpecker, kestrel, goldcrest, great crested grebe from Peterstone to trout lake; tufted, mallard, wigeon, teal, pintail, shovellers and shelducks all there.

Main sighting: Barn Owl and Black Redstart

Afternoon visit 1pm to 3.45 pm. Very misty.Generally very quiet.
Monks Lagoon – 50c x Wigeon, 1 x Curlew and 1 x Canada goose
Rear of Hide 1 – 1 x Song Thrush and Blackbirds.
Priors Lagoon – 5 x Swans, 7 x Gadwall 1 x Grey Heron 1 x Tufted Duck. Mix of Mallard , Teal and Shovelers
Seawall – Black Redstart moving along the wall from the Hill Farm fence line down along the wall towards the seawall like last year.
Mixed flock of Linnets, Pippits and Reed Buntings moving throughout the reserve. 3 x Stonechats near sea wall.
Barn Owl was showed quite well. It caught something and flew off.
